Here are 3 simple DIY home repairs to help keep your home in tip-top shape.
Gutters are a crucial line of defense against water damage. They play a vital role in managing rainwater and directing it away from your home’s foundation and exterior walls. Over time, gutters can develop cracks or gaps that lead to leaks and potential structural issues. The good news is you can combat leaky gutters with Flex Seal Spray. This liquid rubber in a can creates a flexible, waterproof barrier that can help stop leaks fast.
To seal your gutters with Flex Seal Spray, follow these steps:
1. Clear any debris from your gutters and clean them thoroughly to remove dirt. Then, allow the gutter to dry.
2. Shake your can of Flex Seal and begin spraying the desired area in a smooth, sweeping motion. You should hold the can about 8-12 inches from the surface, and spray a thin, even coat, feathering the edges.
3. Allow about 24 hours for Flex Seal to cure before adding additional layers.
Tired of unexpected guests like water and pests invading your home? Sounds like you could use some Flex Paste. This super thick rubberized paste is your go-to solution for filling large gaps, cracks, or holes around your home. Flex Paste’s durable, rubberized coating helps prevent infiltration from water, bugs, and rodents, protecting your home from potential damage.
Whether it’s along the foundation, of windows, Flex Paste penetrates deep to provide a waterproof, airtight seal that can withstand extreme weather conditions.
To apply Flex Paste, follow these steps:
1. Ensure the area you’ll be applying Flex Paste to is clean and free of any dirt or debris.
2. Open your tub of Flex Paste, remove the protective foil and silica packet and set them aside. Don’t throw them away, as you’ll need them later.
3. Use a putty knife to scoop out a thin layer of product. Make sure not to scoop too deep to avoid creating air bubbles.
4. Apply the product directly onto the area needing repair, pushing the paste in to ensure it fills the gaps and holes.
5. Smooth out Flex Paste with your putty knife and allow about 24 hours for it to dry.
6. Place the protective foil back inside the tub of Flex Paste and press it down to remove any air bubbles. Then put the silica packet on top of the foil and put the lid back on. Make sure to store your Flex Paste in a cool, dry place.
Flexpert Tip: Flex Paste is also available in a cartridge that can be used in a caulking gun, which is great for window caulking, hard-to-reach areas, or anywhere you need pinpoint precision.
Outdoor accents such as trim, tile, or decorative elements can become loose over time due to weather exposure. Flex Glue is perfect for reattaching these items securely without the need for nails or screws. Its super strong adhesive properties make it ideal for outdoor repairs, providing a repair solution that can hold up to the elements.
To apply Flex Glue, follow these steps:
1. Clean the application surface to ensure it is free of dirt, or debris.
2. Generously apply product to the surface and firmly press the piece you’re attaching to the desired location.
3. Hold it in place for about 30 seconds for Flex Glue’s instant grab to take hold.
Flexpert Tip: Larger surface areas or heavier materials may need a bit more hold time and or bracing. Flex Glue cures in about 24 hours and reaches full strength in 7 days.
Maintaining your home doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you’re tackling small fixes or larger projects, our waterproof sealants and adhesives provide reliable protection against the elements. With the Flex Seal Family of Products, you can make DIY repairs around your home with confidence.
